As an executive housekeeper, my day at Aramness is filled with a lot of excitement, thrill and a sense of home.
In India, chai is more than just a simple cup of tea – it is woven into the fabric of this nation. Chai time in every home is a time to catch a breath and escape the hustle and bustle of the day to reconnect. It is always characterised by storytelling and the sharing of news as spicy and flavourful as the tea itself - Chai Time at Aramness is no different.
I like to start my day early and I feel truly lucky to witness the sunrise through the teak forest from Aramness every single morning.
My day starts by greeting guests who are heading out for their morning safari – the excitement is contagious and that, indeed, fuels my day. I have the privilege of making sure all my guests and colleagues are in absolutely clean and hygienic surroundings. For which, I have a habit of walking through all the guest areas, taking notes of the points that need to be addressed with the engineering team, the gardeners and my team members. I energize myself at 7 am in the team cafeteria where our chef serves us local delicacies and masala chai with a bright smiling face.
I collect the day sheet from my guest services team, so I am well-prepared for my team meeting at 8 am, ensuring my team delivers perfection in terms of guest preferences and requirements. Daily 15 mins of training during the team briefing is my success tool for meeting the expectations of my team members, so they, in turn, can ensure the best experience for our wonderful guests.
From 10 am to 11.30 am, I spend my time in the laundry checking the guest laundry and monitoring the washing process. Post that, I inspect all the arrival rooms for the day and make sure they are spic and span. After 3 pm, I spot check a few occupied kothis and the butler cabinets, and then I plan our dinner venue cleaning, turndown service along with the allocation for the upcoming day. Before leaving for the day, I do a thorough walk-through of the guest areas to leave no room for any issues. Throughout the day, guests staying with us have plenty of options to spend their time and the team ensures our guest areas look welcoming and comfortable.
My personal favourite is the Haveli and there is no better feeling than seeing a person admiring the beautiful architecture and interiors whilst soaking in the natural beauty of this luxury lodge near Gir National Park.
